These are random levels pieced together from all of the different sets of tiles in the game. Key Shards acquired after completing an Act Bounty set in Adventure Mode challenges grant access to the Nephalem Rifts. Elly opens 102 in this video for good measure! In this video, Elly explains how the Horadric Bounty Cache rewards work and finds out what the loot looks like. This will likely be how all fans play the game in the future. Sure, you’ll encounter some of the challenges over and over again, but there are enough of them to make it feel reasonably fresh. The good news is that these challenges are changing, so there is a lot of replayability in the adventure mode. There are also Key Shards to unlock Nephalem Rifts (more on those shortly) and Blood Shards (these too) as a reward.
This allows players to jump anywhere in the game world they want and take part in a series of challenges throughout one of the acts, in search of better gear. The adventure mode is probably the most notable addition, which brings new world maps to Sanctuary. With a new class and act Ground floor is pretty decent, but the real meat and bones of this expansion are features most seasoned gamers would have expected to see in the original. It was also great not having to listen to some of that awful dialogue again. Not having to endure the disappointing storyline of the average and working the entire game in a set order just to level up the character was great. After completing the expansion as a wizard, I went straight to adventure mode with the crusader. I also think I enjoyed playing this new class even more thanks to the Adventure mode. The Crusader looks like a mix of some of the other classes, which is probably why I enjoyed playing it so much over the past couple of weeks.Īdventure Mode. It’s a bit boring for other players but a lot of fun in solo. If you get the right combination of skills, you can effectively spin your hammers almost all the time. The Crusader was a nice change from my usual wizard character and allowed me to get stuck in mob packs with my anger-generating skills and abilities such as the mighty blessed hammer swirling around my general neighborhood. Diablo 2 players will see this class as the closest thing to the Paladin with throwing hammers and more sacred skills than you.
The other major addition is the new Crusader class, a ranged, melee character with robust strikes and powerful throwing abilities. Act V is nice, but ends too quickly if you play it with an existing character, even if you do all of the events that dot the new areas.
The new number isn’t exactly huge, as you can go through all of the new content in about 4 hours with an existing character solo and then it’s Maltheal for the inevitable boss battle. The new content returns to the more Gothic style with the dismal streets of Westmarch and the fortress of Pandemonium. These are “darker” than most areas of the original version. Soul Reaper brings new content in the form of Act V, which is an adventure through new areas of the game. There are two types of Diablo player one who enjoys going through the game and then moving on, and the other who expects to be continually entertained by a Diablo title for years, as has been the case with Diablo 2. The problem with almost all reviews was with the reviewer and what he expected from the game. Action was finally taken with leadership changes within the development team, and the road to launching the expansion began.ĭiablo 3 has had its issues despite the rave reviews it received when it launched.
For the past couple of years, Blizzard has been racking its brains trying to figure out what to do with the game, although the community has told them what to do before the original game is released. Diablo 3: Reaper of Souls would not have been as expected without the fact that the original Diablo 3 was a broken game with a terrible loot system and an unwelcome auction house.
